Risks of working in open pits
Advancing pits continually expose new faces and benches; jointed, weathered, or blast-damaged rock can become unstable above haul routes, loading areas, and infrastructure. A localized failure at the wrong time can injure workers, damage equipment, close key ramps, or shut down a production area.
These faces are difficult to manage: access is constrained, exposure is high, and any intervention must be carried out around mine ground-control requirements
Our response
GRW takes responsibility for the rock-slope and ground-control packages where site crews and conventional contractors cannot safely or efficiently work. We bring high-angle crews, specialty drills, and practical staging plans to scale rock and install systems on steep faces and tight benches.
We work to the mine’s ground-control design and standards—installing rock bolts, dowels, mesh, shotcrete, and drainage systems—and sequence our work around blast patterns, haul routes, and shift rotations so production can continue safely
